From Vancouver you can take a beautiful scenic drive up the Sunshine Coast to get to the Resort. A short drive north from Vancouver lets you catch the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale. The 40-minute ferry provides the opportunity to see Howe Sound, Bowen, Gambier and Keats Islands and lots of marine traffic including pleasure crafts, fishing boats and tug boats pulling log booms.
Just after debarking from the ferry you may choose to make a quick stop at Gibson’s where you can find Molly's Reach, the restaurant from the famous TV series "The Beachcombers". From there you will continue driving up the coast to catch the second ferry from Earls Cove to Saltery Bay. This ferry takes 50 minutes and provides a great view of Jervis Inlet and the Coast Mountains. When you get off the ferry, drive along Highway 101 until you reach the outskirts of Powell River and a big red sign that says Beach Gardens Hotel & Marina. Turn left into the hotel, and you will see Alpha Dive and Kayak. The entire trip from downtown Vancouver to Powell River will take about five hours and the cost (ferries and gas) is approx. C$60 per vehicle plus C$17 per person return.
Coming from Vancouver Island you will take the ferry at Little River in Comox. The passage takes one hour and 15 minutes and the ferry docks in the heart of Powell River. When you debark from the ferry turn right on marine (Highway 101) and follow it until you get to the outskirts of Powell River and see a big, red sign for the Beach Gardens Hotel & Resort. Turn right into the hotel, and you will see Alpha Dive and Kayak. The cost for this route is approx. C$54 per vehicle plus C$16 per person return. BC Ferries Link: www.bcferries.bc.ca
